Let’s Play Some Music!
I know it’s cliche – i almost find it a little embarrassing – but I just love playing music, live. I have been an energetic performer since first putting on living room concerts with my trusty tennis racket for my family as a child. It’s that pure joy and love for music that I try to bring to the stage, every time I walk out. It’s hard not to smile, getting to share music with people.
As a sideman, I never see my role as “in the background.” Rather, I try to play the most integral role possible, for the position I’m hired on to play. To me, playing in a live band is like a team sport. We all have to play our position at the top of our game, in order for the songs to sound as good as they can. Let’s make the people happy tonight. Let’s change minds tonight. Let’s melt hearts tonight.
It’s with this Lancelot attitude that I join forces with these lovely bands I call home. My best night is spent trying to coax the deepest demons out of a visionary singer, songwriter or bandleader. I’m always eager to meet a kindred musical spirit and hungry for more fun, out on any road.
