Take Me

Take Me

Take Me was a real adventure. Feeling myself pull away from the whole vintage soul thing, I started dabbling with all kinds of ideas. In the end, I think the vibe of soul music is here throughout but you can hear that I was moving up and out. Jon Evans, again, the consummate producer and visionary bassist and arranger, helped reign me in and get the best performances out of everyone.

And speaking of that, this record features some amazing heavy hitters: Matt Chamberlain (Tori Amos, Fiona Apple, Pearl Jam, David Bowie, Kanye West, etc.), Jon Evans (Tori Amos), Mike Aaberg (Goapele, Leila Hathaway), Adam Theis & his Jazz Mafia Horns, Zoe Ellis (Mickey Hart, So Vo So)...holy cow...and little ol' me!

Cool thing is, "Twenty Month Summer", the song's first single spun on the Smooth Jazz Radio Network for over a year in their New Music Hour, bumping up with the likes of Seal, John Mayer, John Legend and other singer/songwriters that fit into the smooth jazz label only when you squint a little.
